A complete pilgrimage through Gujarat's most sacred temples — from the divine shores of Dwarka to the ancient Jain temples of Palitana.
Gujarat is home to some of India's most revered pilgrimage sites — the Dwarkadhish Temple on the westernmost point of India, the first Jyotirlinga at Somnath on the Arabian Sea coast, the Shatrunjaya Hill of Palitana with its 863 Jain temples, and the forests of Gir. This 7-day circuit covers all four in a comfortable, private and well-paced itinerary — ideal for families, senior travellers and NRI guests who want a meaningful, deeply immersive journey through the spiritual heart of Gujarat.
As a Gujarat-based travel agency, Atharva Travels is your natural partner for the Gujarat Sacred Circuit. Ahmedabad Airport (AMD) and Rajkot Airport (RAJ) are your gateway airports — both connected from Mumbai and Delhi. We arrange seamless pickup directly from either airport.
Arrive at Ahmedabad or Rajkot Airport. Meet and greet by our representative. Proceed to Dwarka (approximately 5 hours from Ahmedabad, 2.5 hours from Rajkot). En route visit Nageshwar Jyotirlinga — the second of the 12 Jyotirlingas, set in a grand stone temple surrounded by a large Shiva statue. Arrive Dwarka by evening. Check-in to hotel. Evening visit Dwarkadhish Temple for aarti. Overnight in Dwarka.
Full day in Dwarka. Morning darshan at the Dwarkadhish Temple (Jagat Mandir) — one of the four Char Dham of Hinduism, believed to be built over the original palace of Lord Krishna. Visit Rukmini Devi Temple and Gopi Talav. Afternoon: take a short boat ride to Beyt Dwarka — a small sacred island where Lord Krishna is believed to have actually resided. Visit the Beyt Dwarkadhish Temple and walk through the ancient island village. Return by evening ferry. Overnight in Dwarka.
After morning darshan, proceed to Somnath (approximately 5 hours). En route, stop at Porbandar — birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. Visit Kirti Mandir, the memorial built at the house where Gandhi was born. Arrive Somnath by evening. Visit the Somnath Temple for the atmospheric evening aarti on the Arabian Sea shore — one of the most moving temple experiences in India. Overnight in Somnath.
Morning darshan at Somnath Temple — the first and most sacred of the 12 Jyotirlingas, destroyed and rebuilt seven times across history. Explore Prabhas Patan — the ancient town surrounding Somnath, including Bhalka Tirth (where Lord Krishna received the fatal arrow), Triveni Sangam (confluence of the Kapila, Hiran and Saraswati rivers) and the Somnath Museum. Evening: attend the famous Light and Sound Show at Somnath — a dramatic retelling of the temple's extraordinary history. Overnight in Somnath.
Drive to Gir National Park (approximately 2 hours) — the only place on Earth where Asiatic lions live in the wild. Afternoon jeep safari inside the Gir Sanctuary. Besides lions, Gir is home to leopards, sambar deer, nilgai, marsh crocodiles and over 300 bird species. Evening at leisure. Overnight in Gir / Sasan Gir.
Optional early morning safari at Gir (subject to permit availability). Proceed to Palitana in Bhavnagar district (approximately 4 hours). Palitana is the world's only fully vegetarian city — a reflection of its profound significance to Jain pilgrims. Check-in and rest. Evening walk through Palitana town. Overnight in Palitana.
Early morning climb of Shatrunjaya Hill — approximately 3,500 steps leading up to a plateau where 863 Jain temples have been built over nine centuries, making it the largest Jain pilgrimage complex in the world. The hilltop at sunrise with temple spires stretching to the horizon is an unforgettable sight. Descend by mid-morning. Proceed to Ahmedabad or Bhavnagar for departure.
